Hi everyone!

Here we are again, and today we would like to share with you this photo-reportage we did a few days ago at the restaurant LOFT. Rossana and I met there for lunch because we were searching for new places offering a sustainable proposal. LOFT stands for Light, Organic, Fresh and Tasty.

Combining vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free creations, their menu consists of a creative and delicious selection of soups, paninis, salads and curry-inspired dishes (their colourful speciality!). On weekends they also offer breakfast from 10AM to 12PM. But, what makes this place totally unique, is their great range of flavours on homemade ice-cream.

Whereas Rossana ordered the Indian curry with fruity tomato flavour, I went for the yellow Thai curry variation – which has a base of turmeric powder and a rich topping of mango, pepperoni and chutney. All curries are vegan in their basic version, but you have the possibility to add chicken, beef or salmon to them if you like.

We did this photo shooting in collaboration with Fräulein Bredow – Green Concept Store. Located in the neighbourhood of Derendorf, on Roßstraße 9, this spacious and well lit boutique sells clothes and complements produced by different ecological brands.

We would especially like to thank the shop owner, the German designer Sia Bredow, who helped us create these casual and sophisticated ecoLooks (100% slow fashion outfits). The light textures, colourful patterns and flower inspiration makes me think of Summer drawing closer and closer everyday.

On the other hand, we would also like to recommend you to have a look at the website of  Umiwi – not a fairy tale. The beautiful armbands I am wearing for the shooting have been produced by this German brand that works together with local designers and craftsmen in Thailand and Mexico to create accessories out of natural and regional resources. Their main goal is to give more financial autonomy and independence to charity projects that were depending on donations only. Of course, they also operate under social, economic and environmental sustainability standars. Read more

What am I doing here? That’s exactly what Sia Bredow asked herself after having worked as a designer for a few years for the conventional fashion industry. “Everything was so contrary to my beliefs, until one day I just quitted,” explains Sia to us while enjoying a cup of green tea. “I was totally unhappy, but that’s not easy to see when you get all caught up in the daily routine. Sometimes you are just too used to the things that surround you to be able to refelct on the troubles you are facing.”

After dropping her job she needed a break to figure out what her next step was going to be. She wanted to reconnect with herself and listen to her own thoughts – without feeling the influence of other people. So she decided to take some time off and headed out to the North of Spain, where El Camino de Santiago (also known in English as the Way of St. James) awaited her. She started in Le Puy en Velay, in France, and travelled nearly 2000 km by foot. Read more

Two weeks ago Rossana and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Greenies. This restaurant opened its doors in Düsseldorf almost one year ago, in March 2014. Ever since, it has been winning over all kinds of paladates (including those highly attached to the consumption of meat – like mine!) with their rich offer of vegan and vegetarian food.

His owner is called Bernar Walker, and he is a young german enterpreneur who is trying his luck for the first time in the restaurant sector. Together with his mother, who is to be spotted in the kitchen, and his sister, who helps attending the customers, Bernar has embarked on an extraordinary adventure that, judging from the warmth welcome the local community has given to Greenies, can take him to beautiful unexpected places.

The fresh approach presented by the restaurant consists of an ambitious bet on sustainability – a concept that had been spinning around Bernar’s mind already back in his days as student of philosophy at the university.
